ABOUT US

Supporting Michigan’s Preparedness, Response, and Resilience

The Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) provides essential federal funding to help state, regional, and local partners strengthen Michigan’s ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from all hazards, whether natural disasters, public health emergencies, or acts of terrorism. Through these funds, Michigan invests in the people, systems, and technologies that protect our communities every day.

Administered by the Michigan State Police Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MSP/EMHSD), HSGP ensures that local jurisdictions have the tools and resources needed to prevent and mitigate large-scale incidents. The program fosters coordination between emergency management, public safety, healthcare coalitions, and critical infrastructure partners, creating a unified and resilient statewide system.

Each year, the program supports projects that enhance communication, intelligence sharing, responder safety, and regional interoperability. Funding also provides for specialized training, exercises, and equipment that ensure Michigan’s first responders are prepared for any threat. By empowering local agencies and promoting regional collaboration, the HSGP plays a vital role in protecting the health and safety of every Michigan resident.
